Regulatory agencies, as well as state and federal legislation, mandate peer review activities to assess physician and other provider performance. Healthcare organizations are looking for methods to standardize their processes and create meaningful measurements.

Echo's Peer Review functionality uses multiple sources of performance data to support performance measurement, improvement activities and regulatory compliance.

Multiple peer review processes can be designed, developed and employed across the enterprise or facility. peer review administrators define the elements to be tracked and measured -- providing maximum flexibility.

A variety of physician performance indicators can be tracked including:

  • Review for identification of individual cases potentially requiring physician review due to case complexity or significance
  • Rule to identify individual instances of noncompliance with administrative or clinical processes
  • Rate to identify potential performance differences among physicians using aggregated outcomes or processes of care.

Data entry is streamlined and records can be tracked either in the provider or patient record. Data can be imported from third-party legacy systems (ADT or medical records), eliminating manual keying of information. Areas are available to capture dates, table values and an unlimited amount of free text notes. Links to scanned images such as hard copy documentation are also available. All access is controlled by user security rights.

All peer review information is accessible for reporting including Excel spreadsheets for three dimensional charts for aggregate data reporting. Listing and oneclick "worklists" identify areas that require action or follow-up. All reports can be secured by an individual or groups and generated off-hours through the event scheduler.

Echo's Peer Review solution is designed to uniformly track both adverse outcomes as well as document best practices. Sentinel events and aggregate data are tracked and maintained. Information can easily be incorporated into recredentialing provider profiles.
