Cleveland Clinic Protocols

Clinical protocols, developed by The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, are exclusively available in HealthLine Systems' Sharp Focus call center software. These adult and pediatric guideline protocols are used by registered nurses in the contact center to provide services such as:

  • Demand management: refer to the clinically appropriate, cost-effective site of care; reduce use of ER as primary care site
  • Symptom-based clinical triage: conduct nurse-directed primary care assessment and referral
The Cleveland Clinic Foundation guideline protocols include more than 190 adult and pediatric guideline protocols developed as a collaborative effort between Cleveland Clinic physicians and nurses.  Using these protocols, more than 7 million calls have been successfully triaged through the award-winning Cleveland Clinic Nurse on Call program since 1991. The Cleveland Clinic's guideline protocols have been put to the test with proven effectiveness.
